- As part of a voter outreach effort, the State Board of Elections (SBE) sent a postcard to approximately 1.1 million unregistered individuals.
- Individuals were identified based on a data match between SBE and the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA).
- If you received the postcard and are not yet registered to vote, you can register to vote here.
- If you received the postcard and believe that you are already registered to vote - the fact that you got this postcard does not mean you are no longer registered to vote. Check your registration here.
- The mailing is estimated to be 98% accurate.
- The reason aprroximately 2% received the postcard in error was due to underlying data issues – such as the name or date of birth on file with SBE and MVA did not match.
- Because of the mailing SBE will be able to correct data issues which brings more integrity to the process.
- The timing of the postcard was designed to be early enough that there is still plenty of time to register to vote, but close enough to the election that people are engaged in the election.
- SBE expects that this effort will enfranchise a significant number of the unregistered, but eligible Maryland citizens.
